Ive started concept drawings of various fashions that will be associated with the series. these are all very quick drawings but they give a nice outline to the fashion that is "in" with the youth of my version of the early 1900s. a few simple rules i have adapted into the fashion are stripes, flared sleeves, large buckles and a throwback to elizabethan clothes (a visual fad. ill work on adapting some of these designs and incorperating any new styles into my characters.

I will design shoes and jewelery in closer detail some other time, thats why they look less developed in these drawings

Background proper

The proper version, last time i save something as CYMK

Ive been sketchy about what way my backgrounds should be designed but i think that this method works best, drawing and shading a pencil drawing and colouring on photoshop afterwards, ive done a character in this style aswel to see how that looks. im positive the backround suits this method but unsure about the character, maybe ill stick to ink than pencil in the characters but i should see how characters and backgrounds look together before making any decisions. i dont know what the hell happened to the background when i uploaded it. hmmm

Trying to get back to Work

Ive taken a week and a half off and today have been trying to get back into a create mood, unfortunately, all i did was fix up a few sentences on my latest script draft, write ideas for a few episodes and drew 2 drawings. at least i dod something but it was supposed to be much much more. here are the drawings i did, basicly i need to work on character sheets that include turn arounds and expressions, i did 2 expressions. nothing amazing just the main character Carlton looking smug and confident and the ove interest Keeva looking flirtatious oooooooo!!!

Finalising things

Ive come close to finalising the main characters of my series idea, there is room for small improvements i think on some but i think in genearal this image is very close to the final outcomes, ive just put the latest drawings of each character together in a scene. its good to see them in the same picture becasue its giving me thoughts of how each characters proportions should work out in relation to each other, a thing i will work on after i get final designs for backgrouds, which i am currently experimenting on now

More Final Designs

Final Designs

Ive been working on designs that are final if not, close to final. the only two are Paul the protagonist and Andy the sidekick:

Concept Drawings old and new

here are some drawings ive done for the Final Major Project. some are old (drawn last month) others have been drawn today and yesterday. ill start with the older ones. below are two concept drawings of exterior shots, one is of the boys dorm, and the second is of the print press with a bit of a cinema on the right.

below are two concept drawings for adult characters, teachers. the male is the initial headmaster concept design, the female is the school's history teacher. these two characters appear in the current draft of the pilot episode.

below is a concept drawing for the school papers editor, she appears breifly in the current draft of the pilot and is an older student who is constantly hungover, smoking and stressed out with her duties, though all she seems to do is bark orders and relax in her office

Ive not yet established a very good antagonist to my series yet but i drew some quick sketches of some characters with mean faces to get my ideas flowing.
the first is a concept for a hall monitor or prefect. in my draft episode, a character like this is written as a rival but isnt very antagonistic, with more development hopefuly a good design and character will evolve from these.

this is the latest design for Paul the protagonist and anti hero of the series, he is new to his school and is made to be the schools paper journalist. he is unhappy with his new suroundings and "friends" but decides to make the best of his situation and position as journalist in order to shame his enemies, gain noteriety and impress a girl he likes.

when i was just sketching out various female shapes and designs, i ended up with these two character which i will try and incorperate into the series. as i was having trouble with antagonistic elements, ive decided these two would definately be antagonists, perhaps the matipulating popular girls. or maybe they would be related to the head master and do his bidding in the school classrooms and corridors. hopefully ill think of something definate.

the girl paul is after is below, ive not established much of a character for her yet but from the 2nd draft of the pilot im writing, she makes an appearence and her involvement with a story Paul is forced to research, is the reason he decides to take the story seriously. and pretends to care in order to win her affections.

Scared Boy

Another segment of my showreel animation is almost done and incorperated the beloved method of animation, traditional animation. heres a quick example of how the scene will look, i just threw the camera moves in asap to see if the walk cycle lends itself to the time i need for the pan of the house, anyways here it is.

This is an animatic of a short propaganda film that explains some of the details of the world in which my series is set. the precise date the series'is set will be unclear but after i'd written my 2nd drat of my story. ive realised that it is set in the 20's due to references etc. anyways, it doesn't matter becasue it is all alternate history. the script for this piece is improved and alot shorter now but here is the original animatic for the original. this will be one of the small promotional animations i will make for the series, as i do not have enough skill or time to produce a whole episode in university.

i will have the newer animatic up by the end of the week along with new showreel animations and character designs i end up doing.
